/uses

What's /uses About?

It's always interesting to see what other people are using on a daily basis within the world of tech, but also anything else that might be of interest.

This was started by Wes Bos, and you can check everyone else's /uses pages over at uses.tech. You can also clone the site down, add a JSON file, submit a pull request and get added to the site yourself.

Editor & Terminal

  • WebStorm - usually use this for the main project I'm working on
  • Visual Studio Code - open this up along side WebStorm to view previous projects as reference etc. as it's lighter weight
  • DataGrip - for database management / visibility
  • Other JetBrains products - Rider, PyCharm
  • iTerm / Oh-My-Zsh
  • The themes I am currently using (I like to switch these up pretty regularly):
  • Fira Code Light - with ligatures enabled
  • Vim - used within every IDE I download, with relative line numbers enabled
  • Chrome for day to day browsing and testing
  • Firefox more and more for development

Software

  • Insomnia (similar to Postman)
  • Toggl - for billable time tracking
  • RescueTime (Free Version) - to see just how productive, or unproductive, I am from day to day
  • Gmail - For both business (GSuit) and personal email
  • Affinity Designer (iPad) - Great for use with Apple Pencil
  • Adobe XD (Desktop) - Using this less and less
  • Coming Soon? Figma - Currently looking at this for use in the future
  • Slack and Discord - Community engagement and support channels
  • Parallels - for if I really need to boot into Windows
  • Evernote - used to note down any thoughts I have regarding tech, tools, things to blog about, or ideas that I have
  • Journey - to collect more personal thoughts, journalling
  • Headspace - to aid my daily meditation
